Redworth Hall Hotel - Darlington Locomotive Works

Supporters and their guests are cordially invited to join the Trustees, Volunteers and Staff of The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust for their annual Convention. The morning session will be held at the Redworth Hall Hotel, Darlington, where attendees will enjoy presentations on all aspects of Trust activity over the past 12 months and hear of our plans for the coming year. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A.

The morning session will be followed by a visit to Darlington Locomotive Works. Here, visitors will see the latest progress on the P2 Class, No. 2007 Prince of Wales, enjoy train rides behind No. 60163 Tornado and have the opportunity to speak with the team.

The evening meal will be held at the Redworth Hall Hotel. This more social aspect of the Convention is growing in popularity year on year, with Supporters discussing the days event over a 3 course meal. There will also be a short address by our after dinner speaker, TBA.

Registration for the convention is now closed. We have reached our final deadline to submit catering and meal orders to our venue. Thank you to everyone who has registered, we look forward to seeing you soon!

Details of the Day

ITINERARY

09:40 & 10:05 hrs - Vintage buses depart Darlington Bank Top Station

10:00 – 10:30hrs - Registration, tea and coffee in the Prince Bishop Suite Foyer, Redworth Hall.

10:30 – 12:15hrs - Convention presentations in the Prince Bishop Suite, Redworth Hall.

12:15 – 13:00hrs - Two-course buffet lunch with tea and coffee in Restaurant 1744, Redworth Hall Hotel.

12:30 & 13:00hrs - Vintage buses depart for Darlington Locomotive Works.

13:00 – 15:45hrs - Visit to Darlington Locomotive Works (including welcome, group photograph, Tornado steam train rides and workshop update).

15:00 & 15:30 & 16:00hrs - Vintage bus departs Darlington Locomotive Works for Redworth Hall and Darlington Bank Top Station.

19:00hrs - Drinks reception and three-course Convention Dinner in the Prince Bishop Suite, Redworth Hall Hotel. Followed by a guest speaker, TBA.

 

ARRIVAL

By Train:

Please arrive at Darlington Bank Top Station.

Vintage buses will depart at 09:40 and 10:05 for Redworth Hall Hotel.

Following the morning part of Convention, buses will transfer delegates to Darlington Locomotive Works before returning to Redworth Hall and Darlington Bank Top Station at the conclusion of the afternoon visit.

By Car:

Parking is available free of charge at Redworth Hall Hotel, Surtees Road, Newton Aycliffe DL5 6NL.

Delegates travelling by car may either use the vintage bus transfers to Darlington Locomotive Works or drive independently if preferred. Parking is available at Skerne Bridge Car Park, John Street Darlington DL1 1LG - charging £1/hr or £4/day. This a 4-minute walk to DLW, with entry via Hopetown.

Disabled parking is available at Darlington Locomotive Works, 9 Bonomi Way, Darlington, DL3 0PY. Please contact the office to pre-book these spaces as availability is limited.
