The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Roe as a Trustee of the charity and Operations Director.
Paul joins the Board bringing extensive operational leadership experience together with a lifelong commitment to railway preservation. Paul served for more than 30 years as a police officer, including 12 years with the British Transport Police. Outside his professional career, he has volunteered at the Nene Valley Railway for almost 40 years, where he currently serves as Locomotive Department Manager and is a qualified Steam Driver.
As Operations Director, Paul will lead the Trust's Operations Team, ensuring the safe, efficient and successful delivery of Tornado's operations across the national network and preserved railways. Working closely with the Commercial Team, Engineering Team and Deputy Operations Director, Jorge Gorman, he will oversee operational planning, governance, budgets and safety compliance, while also taking responsibility for the safe operation of Darlington Locomotive Works, supporting succession planning within the Operations Team, and as a Trustee contributing to the Trust's strategic direction.
