Our train departs historic Darlington North Road station before calling at Darlington Bank Top station and joining the East Coast Main Line.After picking up further passengers at Thirsk and York we head for our last pick up at Wakefield Kirkgate via Church Fenton and Castleford.
From Wakefield we take water at Healey Mills before continuing our journey via Hebden Bridge and the stiff climb of Copy Pit as we soar over viaducts and past historic mills. We route on via Blackburn and join the West Coast Main Line south of Preston for a fast run to Wigan. We now head west and travel via St Helens and on to our destination of Liverpool Lime Street.
Our return journey takes us on Stephenson’s Liverpool and Manchester railway and includes a stunning departure through rock cuttings as we climb to Edge Hill and we then make progress to Manchester as Rocket did some 190 years ago.We process through Manchester Victoria station and tackle the steep climb of Miles Platting bank before heading back out into the country and taking the Calder Valley route east. We pass Hebden Bridge and retrace our outward route back to Darlington.
