Absolutely Chuffed: From Dream to Steam is a brand new extended, in-depth film about the amazing story of the 50th Peppercorn class A1 steam locomotive, No. 60163 Tornado. The original, double award nominated BBC television programme 'Absolutely Chuffed: The Men Who Built A Steam Engine’ was fantastic profile for Tornado and the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust when it first aired. ‘From Dream To Steam’ is the film they might have shown if they had more than a 30 minute transmission slot! From the same producers and director, it takes the story forward and goes much further – it’s been in the works and has come out, retooled with plenty of unseen, new footage which gives a new insight into the construction of Tornado! From the original inspirational idea, to the running of the Royal train, this programme delves deeper than ever before into the fascinating story of a steaming success, with frank interviews and fly on the wall filming.
It was a project that started in 1990, when a group of dedicated people came together with a vision of what seemed at the time an unachievable task. They were united by an extraordinary ambition to construct a brand new steam locomotive and to bring back to life the Peppercorn class A1 Pacific design. After 18 years of incredible effort and teamwork, and at the cost of £3 million, their dream became a reality when locomotive No. 60163 Tornado moved under her own power for the first time. Culminating with spectacular footage of the engine in action, ‘Absolutely Chuffed: From Dream to Steam’ is the tale of a the project that made the world sit up and watch. A story of skill, determination and dedication – steeped in the tradition that made Britain famous!
